Masala Chai

Ingredients:

  • 1½ cups water
  • 2 tea bags or loose-leaf tea
  • Fresh ginger (½ inch, chopped or grated)
  • 4 green cardamom pods
  • ½ tsp fennel seeds
  • 2 peppercorns
  • Chai masala (store-bought is absolutely fine)
  • Sugar or jaggery, to taste
  • ½ cup milk of choice

Directions:

    1. Start the Brew: In a saucepan, add the tea, boiling water and the aromatics: Ginger, cardamom pods, fennel seeds, peppercorns and 1/2 tsp  of chai masala
    2. Bring to life: Let everything come to a rolling boil — your kitchen should start smelling incredible.
    3. Sweeten & soften: Add sugar or jaggery, followed by the milk of your choice.
    4. Simmer: Bring back to the boil, then simmer gently for 2 minutes.
    5. Strain & serve: Pour into your favourite cup and enjoy with NALO Masala Nuts.
